Meet John Patton, you have seen him around, he and his beautiful wife Katie have been members of the SCCF crew for a while now. They are regulars at the 9:00 am or noon classes. John has lost quite a bit of weight and has acquired incredible strength and a new attitude toward fitness and healthy living since he started training with us. San Carlos CrossFit: The SCCF pride is comprised of people living in many different locales. Where did you grow up and what are you doing here now in the bay area?
John Patton: I grew up in Quincy, a small town up in the mountains north of Tahoe. I am currently managing production of a couple painting companies here in the area.
SCCF: Have you always been athletic or has CrossFit been your introduction to human movement, in general?
JP: I have always been athletic. I played sports and spent most of my time outdoors from as early as I can remember. CrossFit has been the most tangible and rewarding physical conditioning.
SCCF: With all the CrossFit and niche training facilities cropping up in the area, why us? And what got you started?
JP: Katie and I did an introduction class at a different CrossFit. Then she tried SCCF and it felt like a fit for her. She kept telling me I would love it and she was right. I did the fundamentals in three privates with Breanne. After the first one I got in my truck and drove a couple blocks down the street pulled over and threw up. I was hooked.
SCCF: Is SCCF a family affair or are you the only exercise assassin of the bunch?
JP: My younger sister and her husband have been doing CrossFit for years. They helped get my wife Katie and I interested.
SCCF: Tell the community one of your biggest achievements since training with us, and where you want to be a year from now.
JP: I have lost 20 pounds since I started and my overall coordination and strength is greatly improved. In a year I imagine I will be stronger and feeling even better.
SCCF: If a workout came up tomorrow that you dreaded the most, what would it be?
JP: Recently we did “Badger” I would be ok with not seeing that again for a while.
SCCF: Through pain and hard work comes clarity and results. What inspires you to keep coming back for more?
JP: After completing a workout that I am not sure I can do before I start, I love that.
There are a couple of members that I enjoy doing workouts with. I try to stay as close to them as possible and it pushes me to go farther than I think I can.
SCCF: If we found you kicking your feet up anywhere in the world, where would it be? And what book would you be reading?
JP: It would be somewhere warm, luxurious and close to water. I love autobiographies and non-fiction.
SCCF: I don’t know about you but I am always thinking about my next meal. What’s for dinner tonight?
JP: Hopefully it is something Katie cooks up. She is a great cook.

JP: I am usually at the 9:30 am or the noon class
